Student Volunteer

What Does It Mean to Become a Student Volunteer at NIF?

Becoming a student volunteer at NIF is an opportunity to engage in a hands-on, learning-driven experience that goes beyond routine assistance. It is designed as a meaningful way for students to participate, grow, and contribute through real-world practice.

With clear guidance and well-defined responsibilities, student volunteers will develop skills in observation, documentation, communication, collaboration, and accountability, while gaining insight into how creative and cultural work is carried out in practice.

The student volunteer could join us in 3 ways:

Youth Workshops
Student-Initiated Workshops

NIF encourages students with a basic sense of responsibility to design and lead their own online or in-person workshops.

Workshop topics must align with one of the following directions

  • Exploring the present and future of interdisciplinary art

  • Examining emotional, physical, and social experiences within schools, families, and individual student life, with proposed reflections or solutions

Youth-Led Workshop Process

  1. Students submit a workshop proposal to NIF

  2. NIF reviews the proposal for content direction, feasibility, and safety

  3. Once approved, the time and format are confirmed

  4. Students serve as the primary organizers, with NIF providing necessary support

Adult Volunteer

As an adult volunteer at NIF, you will have the opportunity to engage in workshops, talks, and public programs centered on art, interdisciplinary practice, and well-being, while gaining hands-on experience by supporting international art competitions, exhibitions, and educational initiatives.

Through clearly defined roles and a supportive framework, you’ll develop skills in collaboration, communication, and project support, and connect with educators, artists, and fellow volunteers in a diverse and professional community. Your contributions are formally recognized through volunteer hour records and certificates, with opportunities for deeper collaboration and co-creating projects or workshops through sustained involvement.

Adult-Led Workshops (Collaborative)

Adult volunteers are welcome to propose and lead independently designed workshops, either online or in person, within NIF’s values and organizational framework. Workshop topics must align with NIF’s core directions, including exploring the present and future of interdisciplinary arts, or examining mental, emotional, and social experiences across schools, families, and individuals, with reflective or solution-oriented approaches.

All workshop proposals must be submitted to and approved by NIF in advance. Approved workshops hosted on the NIF platform will be presented as collaborative NIF projects. If a volunteer plans to conduct the same or a highly similar workshop with another organization, NIF must be informed in advance. Workshops that are co-developed with NIF or formed within NIF’s framework must credit NIF’s name and logo when presented elsewhere. This structure is designed to encourage creative contribution while ensuring clarity, mutual respect, and shared ownership.

Program & Event Support

Adult volunteers may assist with international youth art competitions, exhibitions, educational programs, workshops, and well-being–related initiatives. Support may include helping with event execution, project documentation, workflow coordination, on-site logistics, and general program operations. These roles focus on practical support and collaboration, and are carried out within clearly defined responsibilities and guidance.

Marketing & Communication Support

Volunteers may support bilingual (Chinese/English) content organization, including project descriptions, written materials, and basic informational communication. This may also include organizing visual materials and maintaining information archives. All content-related support is non-commercial in nature and does not involve marketing or promotional duties.
